Textielsharing: zorgeloos en milieuvriendelijk
To avoid polluting the environment, Mewa has developed a proprietary washing process with special dosing and control systems.

Textile sharing: carefree and environmentally friendly

Sharing - it is impossible to imagine our daily lives without it. Numerous factors have helped this trend to develop rapidly in recent years. Climate change, increasing digitalisation and the economic consequences of the coronapanda pandemic have led us as consumers to become more sustainable. Thus, we now “share” in all kinds of sectors: cars, scooters, bicycles, houses, jobs, offices and residences are just a few examples.

Results of the Mewa Trend Study: “the future role of sharing in a digitally connected society”

Online study shows sharing trend

That the system of renting, borrowing, sharing and reselling is gaining popularity is also confirmed by a representative online survey commissioned by textile service provider Mewa in Germany. 1,043 people aged between 16 and 60 and more than 500 managers took part in this trend survey. More than half of the respondents said that using things without buying them has become an integral part of their purchasing considerations. Two-thirds of respondents say that the motto “borrow, share and resell” has even become a new attitude to life.

Textile sharing eases workload for employers

What works at the private level can also easily be applied in companies. Textile service provider Mewa shows how this works in practice. Mewa textile sharing means: using and sharing company textiles several times instead of owning them. This allows companies from a wide range of sectors to make use of a wide range of work and protective clothing in a contemporary and environmentally friendly reusable system. In this way, operational processes are taken out of the hands of employers.

Mewa offers a full-service package, delivering work and protective clothing to companies and collecting it after use and washing it in an environmentally friendly way. This includes procurement, storage and maintenance, as well as size adjustment, repair and quality control. Costs are transparent and planable. Each wearer always gets their own clothes back. And that is an important aspect, as personal adjustments are sometimes made to the clothes. A barcode system ensures there is no confusion.

In Mewa's trend survey in Germany, 24 per cent of respondents said their employer already uses this option. Just under a third (27%) of all respondents said they would appreciate it if a textile service provider took care of the textile equipment for their job. For almost two-thirds (63%) of respondents, one of the main arguments for sharing work and professional clothing is the fact that “you don't have to worry about repairs”.

However, certified textile service providers not only ensure that customers receive hygienically impeccable clothing, they also guarantee that processing is as energy-efficient and environmentally friendly as possible.
