A-SAFE pioneers with 100 per cent plastic crash protection and smart data collection

Warehouses, distribution centres and production sites are constantly looking for solutions that not only offer protection, but are also durable, cost-effective and future-proof. A-SAFE, pioneer in plastic safety solutions, presents two notable innovations: all-plastic collision protection and smart data collection via RackEye™.

Managing Director Jean Pascual sums it up to the point: “Logistics is all about efficiency and speed, but without security, everything comes into question. With our new generation of solutions, we want to give companies the tools to not only mitigate risks, but also actively manage them.”

With the new generation of Bollards, A-SAFE switches completely to plastic, with no steel still needed in the construction.

Industry first

A-SAFE has made a name for itself worldwide with its plastic safety barriers, which combine unprecedented impact resistance with flexibility and durability thanks to its patented Memaplex polymer. Yet one challenge remained: floor fixing. In classic systems, steel is often the weakest link in the structure, as impact forces transfer directly to the anchors in the ground.

Jean Pascual explains why the latest development is a real gamechanger: “With our new generation of barriers, we are switching completely to plastic, with no steel still needed in the construction. We are currently the only manufacturer who can offer this. The result is uniform impact absorption along the entire length of the barrier, no matter where a vehicle collides. Technically, this is a revolution in our industry.”

The benefits are clear: less deformation, better protection of floors and vehicles and significantly lower maintenance and replacement costs. The first applications are already visible in Germany and the United States. In Belgium, the launch is planned from the end of 2025, with a broad rollout in 2026.

From loss assessment to risk management

In addition to physical protection, A-SAFE is fully committed to digitalisation. With RackEye™ and the integration of smart sensors in barriers, every impact is recorded and analysed. So companies no longer have to wait for visible damage or employee reports: the technology provides real-time insight.

“Every collision, no matter how small, tells something about the way work is done,” Pascual says. “Data collection allows companies to recognise patterns: do collisions always happen during the same shift? Are they the same drivers? Are they minor or major incidents? That information enables targeted actions, such as retraining drivers or redesigning busy zones.”

The data are accessible via an app and cloud dashboard, which allows companies to analyse trends and structurally strengthen their safety culture. In addition, the technology has a behavioural impact: drivers know their actions are being monitored and automatically drive more carefully.

These protective posts in 100 per cent plastic are strong, flexible and highly visible in the workplace.

Practical experience and sector-wide cooperation

That these innovations are not stuck in a laboratory is proven by collaborations with major e-commerce companies and international logistics players. For example, RackEye™ has already been successfully applied at companies such as Vaillant and Europa Worldwide Group, where the technology led to both increased safety and measurable cost savings.

Pascual stresses the importance of this hands-on approach: “We don't develop technology for technology's sake. Everything we do has to make a tangible difference in the daily work of logistics professionals. It is that translation of innovation to the shop floor that drives us.”

Demos during Transport & Logistics 2025

A-SAFE looks to the future with confidence. According to Pascual, the combination of 100 per cent plastic barriers and smart data collection is the blueprint for the next generation of security solutions. “Security should not be seen as an additional cost, but as an investment that pays off. Less damage, less downtime and better employee performance: that's the real profit.”
